Today Tim and I ran our first harrier races for 2007. It was a simple 7km course at Timona park in Feilding. I ran quite well and managed three laps – 10.06, 10.23, 10.06 – so was pleased that I was able to maintain my pace throughout. It was my first hard run since Waitarere beach marathon at the end of March. The course is mainly flat and grassy so it is lovely running. There was a good turnout too and some new faces so it looks like being a good season.
Next week we have a pack run then we begin the crosscountry racing season with a few handicap races. I had no luck with them last year – I can sometimes catch the guys in front but the fast guys usually come through in the end and that is the end of that. Still – I just love it. Moa run on farm courses and you really get to see the beautiful farm land which makes our country great – lots of fresh air and always good afternoon teas.
