We have had a very fine start to the school year at St Matthew’s. On Monday and Tuesday this week we have had the pleasure of an Education Review Office team in the school. ‘People make the difference’ is a quote and it is true. The reviewers have been good to work with and have given us some helpful things to think of as well as commending us on our progress since the last review. They complete their review with reports on Thursday.
Tim and I ran the 7km last week. Another hot evening meant fast times and fun in the sun. A huge amount of people turned out again.
This week the 7km run was called off as there was some surface flooding after a few heavy showers. I managed a 6km jog and enjoyed a gentler pace rather than thrashing out some fast kms.
I have taken a big step and entered the Tarawera Ultra Run on March 21. It is an 80km ultra event and is through bush. It runs from Rotorua to Kawerau and has aid stations like some of the American Ultras I have read about on blogs. I am planning some bush runs over the next few weekends to gain some technical proficiency as I build up to some long back to back runs.
