Again

I have blogged and linked to Seth Godin before and no doubt will do so in the future.

His short pithy blogs nearly always stop me and make me think.

Here is today’s blog.

Always that tension between knowledge and having a punt. Great leaders know when to move on and when to go with the tried and true.

Slugfest

Our rabbit passed away the other day and as I shifted its cage and tidied I uncovered a gruesome sight. There were about 8 of these large slugs under the hutch. These slugs are about ten centimetres in length and around three in diameter. They have two quite different parts to their bodies – the front section smoother and the rest of the body quite camouflage patterned.

I gathered them up and put them into the green rubbish bin where they can slime around until the truck comes on Wednesday.

Think this is them here.

That is the end of our rabbit and guinea pig years!

I’m still alive…

… but I have not blogged for a while!

It has been a busy old time as we continue to rumble on through our winter –  mild to date with warmer than normal temperatures (says me) and very little inclement weather in the Manawatu. We have had some rain but the back lawn – my rain guage – is still in good nick and Lake Church only forms after a deluge of which we have had a couple. We have not had too many days where a walk for the dog was out of the question due to weather!

It has been exciting adjusting to having two dogs after getting used to having one for the first 6 moths of the year. Both Mac and Ellie are well and healthy. Mac is proving to be a fast learner and will out perform Ellie in obedience. One challenge we have is that he keys into her instead of us at times so we will need to train him and take hime on solo experiences rather than with her all the time. (And I have read as such!) Mac gets to practice on the footpath for a couple of hundred metres and a few time we have taken him to local dog areas for some off leash exercise. We are not over doing it as a young dog tires easily! Mac goes into his crate very obediently and rests and sleeps regularly. Having a family member on hioliday for a week altered his routines but back by the book this week.

Still – I love being a dog owner although the route we have taken has cost quite a bit to get established, we now have the infrastructure set up  so it is food and a few ongoing costs associated with care.

Experienced some School Trustee training yesterday. Thoroughly enjoyed the four hours with my board. What a difference when the presenters lead with some energy and enthusiasm – playful – but with a tonne of knowledge and ideas to share with the large audience! And a very solid turn out from my board of trustees  – very impressive!

Loved the All Blacks win last night again – will catch the highlights today on Prime as we do not have Sky TV. For us it was Broadband or Sky so we purchased the Broadband and go outside and look up if we want to watch Sky. I usually find a live stream of the Warriors games and catch the All Blacks when I can. I love my sleep too much so late or early morning games are missed. I realised a few years ago that the teams I follow win or lose without me! Must say though that I love watching live sport – it is the best – like live music – good for the soul!
